I/we understand that through baptism God gives this child salvation (Tit. 3:5, 1 Pe 3:21), repentance (Ac 19:4), regeneration (Jn 3:5, Tit. 3:5), Remission of sins (Ac 2:38, Ep 5:26), Good conscience (1 Pe 3:21), communion of Saints (1 Cor 12:13, Ga 3), The putting on of Christ (Ga 3:27, Rm 6), and the Gift of the Holy Spirit (Tit 3:5, 6; Ac 2:38). I/we understand the Scriptural reasons to baptize this child: 1. Babies included in “all nations” (Mt 28:19), 2. Babies need baptism (Ps 51:5, Jn 3:6), 3. Baptism gives forgiveness (1 Pe 3:21), 4. Babies can believe (Mt 18:6, Lk 1:41), 5. Baptism is the only means we know of by which God gives his grace to babies (Ne 8:2-3), 6. Baptism in the Bible was for entire households (Ac 2:38; 16:15, 33), and 7. Bible compares Baptism to circumcision (Col 2:11). I/we intend to bring up this child in the Christian faith, realizing that the faith here given can be lost due to our neglect to nurture it, to remind him/her of this baptism, to instruct him/her in the truths of God’s saving Word, and to make faithful use of the assistance offered by the church (attending worship, enrolling in Sunday School etc.)
